After a long series of discussions and many years of work, I am excited that my other colleagues decided to support our fellow neighbors and voted to approve a $15 minimum wage. As an early advocate of the original legislation earlier this year, I am thankful we as a County came to an agreement about how to support low wage workers while also protecting our small businesses. We in Montgomery County are yet again proving that when the state and federal governments choose not to act, it is imperative that we in local government stand up for progressive values and the safeguarding of our constituents. I look forward to continuing to take a stand for human rights and showing other local governments across the country that we can take action for the betterment of all.
